Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 28 : 3 more Covid patients in the state succumbed to their infections today taking the death toll due to Covid -19 in the state to 85 .
While 2 deaths were reported in East Khasi Hills 1 death was reported from North Garo Hills .
The deceased have been identified as Gopal Saha aged 56 from Polo Hills in Shillong , Tarulata Mondal aged 65 years from Laban in Shillong and Marzina Sangma aged 61 from Kharkutta in North Garo Hills .
According to official sources , Ms.Marzina Sangma, of Kharkutta, North Garo Hills, was admitted to Tura Civil Hospital on Oct 20 and tested Covid-positive that day and she passed away on Monday evening. The cause of death was Covid-19 with septic shock, paraplegia, polymyositis (a type of muscle disease) and kidney injury.
Gopal Saha, of Polo Hills, Shillong, was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on Oct 14 and was tested Covid-positive the same day. He passed away yesterday morning. The cause of death was refractory shock with Covid pneumonia, with chronic infections and Type 2 diabetes.
Ms. Tarulata Mondal, of Upper Laban, Shillong, was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on Monday and was tested Covid-positive the same day. She passed away yesterday evening. The cause of death was Type 2 diabetes with nephropathy (a type of kidney disease), hypertension, chronic kidney disease and Covid pneumonia.
Meanwhile , 90 new Covid cases were detected in the state today taking the state tally to 9,226.
Among the new cases ,East Khasi Hills reported 55 cases , West Garo Hills 19 cases , West Jaintia Hills 6 , East Garo Hills 4, Ri Bhoi 4 and 1 each from North Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills .
A total of 134 patients were declared recovered today .
