Shillong(Meghalaya), Sep10: Meghalaya Legislator representing Mawphlang Assembly Constituency Syntar Klas Sun passed away on Friday at his residence in Mawngap near Shillong.
He passed away at the age of 63 after a brief illness.
Sunn won the Assembly seat from Mawphlang Assembly Constituency in 2018 as an Independent candidate and later joined the United Democratic Party; a constituent of the NPP led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance as an “Associate Member”.
Sunn was an Electrical Engineer before entering into active state politics he had worked as an electrical engineer for many years in the Mawphlang Greater Water Supply Scheme under Public Health Engineering Department.
Later, he went on to become the Chief engineer of PHE .
He was also an ardent sports lover. He was the main person behind the formation of Meghalaya’s popular football club, “Rang Dajied Football Club” and was also the chairman of the environment committee of the assembly.
Late Sunn has left an indelible mark as adviser of Seng Khih Lang , a socio-religious and cultural organization of “Seng Khasis”, for preservation and protection of indigenous faith.
