Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 26 : The Sixth India Japan Intellectual Conclave “Kizuna” in Shillong saw Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma highlighting the state’s partnership with Japan, focusing on youth empowerment, agriculture, and infrastructure development. With 47 nurses already placed in Japan, the state aims to train 5,000 youth over the next five years. India’s first commercial Shiitake block production is underway in Upper Shillong, benefiting over 1,000 farmers.
The Chief Minister proposed a Meghalaya-Japan Skill Corridor, leveraging Japan’s tech expertise with Meghalaya’s youthful population (74% under 35).
The partnership aims to drive inclusive development in circular economy, climate resilience, and sustainable tourism, making Meghalaya a model for the Indo-Pacific region.
