Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Nov 9 : The North East Students’ Organization (NESO) along with several other organizations of the North East today condemned the massacre of innocent civilians at Oting in Mon District of Nagaland with a sit-in demonstration in front of the statue of freedom fighter U Kiang Nangbah in Shillong.
Speaking at the sit-in demonstration, the leaders of different organizations belonging to the different tribes of the North Eastern Region condemned the barbaric act of the defence personnel and demanded repeal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act.
The organisations which took part in the sit-in protest included the KSU, JSU, FKJGP, HNYF, RBYF, HITO, Naga Students Union Shillong,Twipra Students Federation Shillong, Arunachal Students Union Shillong, Shillong Assamese Socio-Cultural Students Association, Karbi Students Association Shillong, All Bodo Students Union Shillong, Shillong Manipuri Students Union, Mizo Students Union Shillong and Mara Students Organisation Shillong.
The programme ended a with candle light vigil.
