Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 27: A major breakthrough in Meghalaya’s security efforts as Samuel Wahlang Pahsyntiew, a suspected Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) cadre, surrendered to authorities on ednesday , February 25. Pahsyntiew is allegedly linked to the March 2024 IED blast near Shillong’s Syndicate Bus Stand and other incidents.

Police have registered a case, and two HNLC members were arrested for a separate IED incident in Umsning market in 2025. Investigation is ongoing under the state’s surrender policy.
