Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 17: The Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan today chaired the 31 st Annual Meeting of the State Managing Committee of Special Fund for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Ex-servicemen at Raj Bhavan, here.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues pertaining to the welfare of resident Ex-Servicemen (belonging Army, Navy, Air Force), their Pensionary Benefits, Medical facilities and other financial assistance from the Central and State Government and also for the welfare of their widows and their dependents.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to increasing the corpus fund of the Sainik Welfare Board, improving the participation of the corporate sector in the collective effort for the welfare and resettlement of the veterans and increasing grants to Unions and Association of Ex- Servicemen, were discussed upon.
The Governor assured the members of his support in all endeavors aimed at improving the welfare of the Ex-Servicemen and their widows and their dependents residing in the State.
