Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 16: In a significant boost to Meghalaya’s development, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar laid the foundation stone for the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub today. The hub, spread across 6.54 acres in New Shillong, is slated to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 77.5 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Dhankhar lauded Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for his interventions aimed at nurturing the potential of Meghalaya’s young population. “The Chief Minister’s initiatives will go a long way in empowering the youth and driving growth in the state,” he said.
The Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub will cater to the needs of the youth, providing incubation, training, collaboration, and industry partnerships. This state-of-the-art facility aims to nurture the potential of Meghalaya’s young population, empowering them to become key drivers of the state’s growth.
During the event, Vice President Dhankhar also launched the CM Business Catalyst: Student B-Plan Challenge, in collaboration with IIM Shillong. This initiative aims to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation among students.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Meghalaya to promote entrepreneurship in the state. This partnership is expected to foster a conducive ecosystem for startups and entrepreneurs.
Governor C.H Vijayashankar, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, and Minister in-charge of Health Ampareen Lyngdoh were present at the ceremony.
With the establishment of the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub, the state takes a significant step forward in empowering its youth and securing a brighter future.
