Shillong(Meghalaya), Aug 31: A conglomeration of residents and NGOs of Mawlai under the banner “Ka Sur Ki Nong Mawlai” today sought the support of Hynniewtrep MLAs to pressurize the state Government to suspend the police personnel involved in the killing of surrendered Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), C.S. Thangkhiew.
The demand has been made to ensure an impartial Judicial Inquiry into the unfortunate Mawlai incident om Aug 13 last .
While seeking support from the 35 Khasi and Jaintia MLAs, the newly formed organization said it wanted to know from their MLAs whether they are supporting the state Government or the people who have elected them.
The members of the organization today handed over the letters to the MLAs of Mawlai, P.T. Sawkmie, Adelbert Nongrum and Minister Hamlet Dohling to extend support to the demand of the organization.
They are demanding the suspension of DGP R. Chandranathan, East Jaintia Hills SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa and SP (Traffic) Shailendra Bamaniya in connection with the alleged “fake encounter” of former HNLC leader Cheristerfield Thangkhiew at his residence on Aug 13 last .
