Shillong (Meghalaya),April 22:Meghalaya is facing a real crisis in as far as tracking and tackling the spread of COVID-19 is concerned as it is next to impossible to complete testing samples of over 4000 persons who have been listed as primary and secondary contacts of the Covid -19 patients.
The state has only NEIGRIHMS as the testing centre which can conduct only 100 tests per day.The virus may have further spread if the state has to wait for 40 days to complete the tests. If testing centers are not enhanced, the state is in peril as it is difficult to contain the virus.
So far, 12 cases of COVID-19 have been detected where one of the patients succumbed to the disease while the other 11 patients are under quarantine.
There are also persons whose samples have to be tested twice to confirm whether they are infected with the deadly virus.
