Imphal(Manipur), April 11 : Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with his cabinet ministers and Rajya Sabha MP took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine jab during the launch of Tika Utsav at Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal today.
In view of the rising COVID cases, India’s special four-day vaccination programme (Tikka Utsav) started today to give vaccination to the maximum number of eligible people against the viral disease.
The mass vaccination programme, which will be conducted from April 11-14, started amid an unprecedented surge of coronavirus cases in India in the last couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, 10 fresh cases were reported in Manipur, taking the number of active cases to 101.
“I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Stay safe from the second wave. Together, let us make our State and the Country COVID-19 free,” appealed the Chief Minister.
He urged not to trust any unverified information relating to COVID-19. He also appealed to the people to consult physicians immediately when they feel unwell. He cautioned the dangers of admitting to hospitals at the later stage of infection.
