Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 1: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s protest outside the Congress Bhavan here in Shillong, terming it a desperate attempt to divert attention from electoral crimes and governance failures. The BJP’s protest is over a manufactured controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during the ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar.
The Congress has categorically rejected the BJP’s baseless allegation that Rahul Gandhi made derogatory remarks about the late mother of the Prime Minister, accusing the BJP of deliberately attributing false words to him to engineer outrage and distract the nation. The Congress claims this is a familiar tactic of the BJP to deflect accountability on issues like unemployment, inflation, and rigged elections.
