Tura(Meghalaya), Nov 8 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) office in Tura, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to decentralize governance and make public services more accessible to the people. The new office will conduct examinations, interviews, and recruitment activities for candidates from the Garo Hills region, reducing the need for travel to Shillong.
This development is expected to benefit students who previously had to undertake arduous 10–15-hour overnight journeys to Shillong, often arriving tired and affecting their performance. The first MPSC examination in Tura is scheduled for Nov14. The government also plans to expand similar facilities to Jaintia Hills, ensuring equitable access across the state.
