Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 17: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Japanese Language Training Programme, organized by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society, Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development at Mount View Building, here. The programme aims to enhance the employability of Meghalaya’s youth in Japan.
The Chief Minister highlighted the growing collaboration between Meghalaya and Japan, citing the success of nurses from the state working in Japan. Currently, 37 nurses from Meghalaya are working in Japan, sending approximately Rs 5 crores annually back to their families. The government aims to increase the number of nurses and other professionals working in Japan.
The six-month training programme, facilitated by the ASEAN Group, will equip 86 students with Japanese language skills, enhancing their chances of employability in Japan. The Chief Minister urged the students to make the best use of this opportunity to enhance their skills and employability.
The programme was attended by Minister Methodius Dkhar, Nishikwa Toshiaki San, Chairman and CEO of Asean Group Co Ltd, Japanese tutors, and officials from MSSDS.
