Shillong, Meghalaya, Oct 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma continued his visit to flood-affected areas in Garo Hills, focusing on Chokpot Civil Sub Division in South Garo Hills.
Today, the Chief Minister inspected the collapsed suspension bridge over Dareng River at Reni Badimagre, which connected the village to Bibragre. Fortunately, no population was affected by floods in Reni Badimagre.
Sangma then visited Mt Carmel School near Chokpot Market, where flooding damaged materials like books and furniture. Despite the challenges, the school’s building remained intact.
In Bibragre and Chokpot, the Chief Minister assessed damage to houses, finding 20 households affected and 9 houses damaged. Government Relief (GR) has been distributed to all 20 affected families.
At Rongrakgre Village, Sangma interacted with flood-affected families, learning that 38 households were affected and 24 houses reported damaged. GR has been supplied to all affected families.
The Chief Minister’s visit aims to assess the damage and ensure timely relief to those affected by the floods.
With relief efforts underway, the Meghalaya government remains committed to supporting affected communities.
