Shillong(Meghalaya), Feb 9: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was conferred the CBCI National Award 2026 for exceptional service to the Church, society, and nation. The award, instituted by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), recognises individuals who embody Gospel values and contribute to human dignity, justice, education, and leadership.
Sangma received the honour at the 37th CBCI General Body Meeting in Bengaluru, along with 18 others. “This award reinforces the value of our work and motivates us to uphold church values,” he said. He acknowledged the Catholic church’s significant contribution to youth development, particularly in North East India.
