Shillong (Meghalaya), March 20 : The Border Security Force (BSF) here, during operations conducted on March 19, successfully foiled illegal smuggling attempts along the international border.
Troops intercepted consignments of Phensedyl cough syrup and sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
In different operations, troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully foiled attempts of smuggling along the International border by confiscating Phensedyl and a huge quantity of Sugar which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the vigilant troops of 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized 350 bottles of prohibited cough syrup Phensedyl while being smuggled to Bangladesh through the International border of West Jaintia Hills Meghalaya.
In other operations conducted by troops of BSF Meghalaya, over 17,000 Kgs of sugar was also seized from different bordering districts of Meghalaya.
The seized Phensedyl and sugar were handed over to the local Customs office for further legal proceedings.
