Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 9 : In a significant blow to smuggling operations along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has successfully thwarted two major attempts, rescuing 35 cattle and seizing over 9,000 kg of sugar.
On Tuesday, Oct 8, BSF troops from the 4 Bn Meghalaya rescued 35 cattle tied in a jungle area near the international border in East Khasi Hills. The cattle were meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh but were handed over to the concerned police station for further action.
In a joint operation with Meghalaya police, BSF troops from the 01st Bn seized over 9,000 kg of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh from the international border of South Garo Hills.
This achievement is part of BSF Meghalaya’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities along the border. Previously, they have seized over 800 cattle and 12,000 kg of sugar in separate operations.
