Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 13: In a thrilling operation today, November 13, 2024, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle cattle and garlic across the international border. The seized goods, valued at over ₹15 lakhs, were intended for Bangladesh through the East Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills districts.
Highlights:
Two Pick-up Vehicles Seized : Loaded with cattle and garlic, bearing registration numbers ML 08 K 3955 and AS 18AC 7177.
40 Cattle Recovered: Intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
Troops Deployed: 22 Bn BSF personnel intercepted the vehicles near the international border in South Garo Hills.
Handed Over to Police: Vehicles and cattle transferred to the concerned police station for further action.
This achievement marks another success for BSF Meghalaya, which has been actively combating smuggling attempts in the region. Recently, they apprehended three Indian nationals and foiled smuggling attempts worth over ₹6 lakhs.
