Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 19: In a major breakthrough, the East Khasi Hills District Executive Force (DEF) conducted a successful operation at Madanrting in Shillong, today, seizing a significant quantity of suspected heroin and arresting two accused persons, including a juvenile.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, the operation was carried out by the DEF team, which recovered six soap boxes containing suspected heroin, weighing a total of 60.98 grams, and two mobile phones.
A criminal case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law, and an investigation is currently underway to establish the source of the narcotics and dismantle the network involved in this illegal trade.
The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, S. Nongtnger, stated that this operation is part of the intensified efforts by the East Khasi Hills DEF to combat the proliferation of illegal narcotics in the district and protect the community from the adverse impacts of drug abuse.
The police have appealed to the public to come forward and provide any information that may lead to the arrest of other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
