Shillong (Meghalaya), April 18: Maram FC turned a halftime deficit into a statement 4-1 rout of Balmanduri FC in Williamnagar today to go two-for-two in Group G of the 5th Meghalaya State League, while Lawbah SC survived a wild five-goal swing at Mairang to edge Umlakro SC 3-2 with a late strike.
The Tura-based Maram, fresh off a 3-2 win over A’chik SCO Rongjeng two days ago, were stunned on Balmanduri’s MSL debut when Ganapati Rabha fired the newcomers ahead in the 40th minute. The second half belonged to Maram. Santosh Teron levelled six minutes after the restart, Bris Taro put them in front in the 66th, and Jakchim K Marak buried the contest with a quickfire brace in the 84th and 88th minutes.
In Group F, Georgesteven Thangkhiew’s 21st-minute opener for Umlakro lasted barely a breath as Mebadonbor Shangpliang equalised in the 40th and Fini Frankly Ramsiej flipped it in the 42nd to send Lawbah ahead before the break. Georgesteven struck again on 61 minutes to haul Umlakro level, but substitute Kitborlang Sohtun had the final word with the 81st-minute winner that sealed Lawbah’s three points.
