Shillong (Meghalaya), April 7 : The state reaffirmed its commitment to universal healthcare on World Health Day, emphasizing early screening, last-mile delivery, and community participation. The state government highlighted efforts to make healthcare accessible, affordable, and inclusive.
Deputy Commissioner R.M. Kurbah stressed the importance of annual health check-ups, urging male participation. Health authorities praised ASHAs for their dedication and urged community involvement in preventive care. The state has strong health infrastructure with 489 sub-centers, 110 PHCs, 23 CHCs, and 11 district hospitals.
Experts emphasized early detection and treatment, focusing on non-communicable diseases, women’s health, cancer screening, and heart care. Health screenings were conducted for those 30+ years.
