Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 5: The Government of Meghalaya has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the tragic coal mine incident in East Jaintia Hills, where 16 bodies have been recovered so far. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed his deepest sympathies to the affected families, stating, “Profoundly saddened by the tragic coal mine incident in East Jaintia Hills. The incident has raised concerns about illegal coal mining practices in the region, with the Justice B.P. Katakey Committee directing stricter enforcement measures to curb such activities.
