Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 16: Twenty-four young individuals from Meghalaya recently participated in the International Exposure Youth Programme to Vietnam 2025, held from September 29 to October 9. The programme, organized under the Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme and the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, aimed to broaden the views of Meghalaya’s youth by allowing them to observe and learn from Vietnam’s history, cultural heritage, and development journey.
The participants explored core historical and cultural places across Vietnam, including Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Ho Chi Minh City. They were introduced to Vietnam’s hardships in war times, its tremendous change, and growth into a developing nation. The delegation also took part in interactive sessions, cultural exchanges, and team-building activities to foster teamwork and equip themselves to contribute as change-makers in Meghalaya.
The programme exemplifies the government’s commitment to nurturing globally aware and socially responsible youth. “When young individuals venture beyond their familiar surroundings and immerse themselves in diverse national and cultural settings, they acquire fresh perspectives, boost their self-confidence, and return with a renewed sense of purpose,” said D. D. Shira, Director, Sports & Youth Affairs. The programme aims to empower the youth to make significant contributions to their communities and the state upon their return.
