Guwahati (Assam), Sep 14: A powerful 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Assam on Sunday evening, September 14, sending tremors across Guwahati and neighboring regions. The quake hit at 4:41 pm local time, with its epicenter located in Udalguri district, at a shallow depth of 5 km.
Residents in Guwahati reported shaking of buildings and a brief panic as people rushed outdoors for safety.
The jolt was also felt in the Northeastern States, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage have been reported so far.
As the region lies in a high-risk seismic zone, the earthquake serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and safety measures.
