Imphal ( Manipur) , Aug 3 : Scores of women were injured when combined teams of central forces, particularly the Rapid Action Forces, fired heavy Tear gas shells upon the agitating women at Phougakchao Ikhai Mayai Leikai on Thursday.
Following the announcement of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) to bury the deceased members of the Kuki-Zo community at the Sericulture farm at Torbung Bangla of Bishnupur District near Haolai Khopi of Churachandpur district on Thursday, the 3rd August, hundreds of women rushed toward Torbung Bangla side.
However, they were stopped at Phougakchao Ikhai Mayai Leikai by the combined central forces consisting of the Jat Regiments, Kumaon Regiment, Gurkha Regiment, CRPF, and the infamous Assam rifles. The combined team parked their heavy-armored vehicles and blocked the road to stop the women from marching forward.
