Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 2 : At a time when the state is reeling through different problems in the education sector a very shocking incident has come to light and an FIR has been filed at Dangar Police Outpost which alleges various instances of inhuman behavior towards the students at a school.
According to the report, the incident took place at the Mary Immaculate School, Kamarphil. In the FIR, the mother of the student, Sumitra D Sangma in the FIR said, this act of illogical behavior should be highly condemnable. She urged the police to look into the matter.
Through the FIR it was also brought to the notice that the head teacher of Mary Immaculate LP and UP school Kamarphil village P.O Sonatola P.S. Mawsynram East Khau Hills District, along with some of the staffs allegedly paraded few students with a garland of unclean and dirty shoes around their neck.
This has led to many students opted to leave their education midway and this has led to drop out. The FIR also states Many more inhuman punishments like licking unclean dustbins, beating the students black and blue, cutting their hair forcefully and personal insults amongst others.
According to the students, the head teacher would make announcements during the school assembly that the erring students would have to wear dirty shoes and chappals around their necks one day after another that is Monday to Friday in different days, different classes.
According to the FIR most teachers are unqualified and untrained and allegedly some of them are only substitute teachers.
Meanwhile the Parents of the students have taken a strong exception to the ill treatment meted out to their children and have strongly condemned it ( as seen in the video) a video which has now gone viral where parents can be seen angry and demand strong action against the Teacher and school concerned.
