Shillong (Meghalaya), April 9 : The mortal remains of former Meghalaya legislator and former Rajya Sabha MP , Robert Kharshiing was laid to rest at Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery here amidst tearful mourners here today .
Kharshiing passed away at Nazareth Hospital in Shillong on Thursday .
He left behind his wife, brothers and a sister.
Father Pascal Lyngdoh, the Parish Priest of Laitumkhrah Cathedral performed the funeral service of the deceased.

He termed Late Kharshiing as one of the great personalities not only among his community, but across the country .
Father Lyngdoh eulogized Kharshiing for the yeoman service he had rendered to the society.
The funeral service was followed by speeches from leaders of different social organizations.
