Kokrajhar(Assam),Feb 15: In a significant move , The All Bodo Students Union( ABSU) has indefinitely suspended the demand for a separate Bodo state, after signing of the historic Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) accord Jan 27 last.
Newly appointed ABSU president Dipen Boro while addressing a press conference held at Bodofa House here on Saturday said that the students union had resolved during the Tamulpur special convention of the students union to make suspend the demand for a separate Bodoland state after signing of the Bodo accord .

He stressed that the students union was working for the peace and tranquility amongst all sections of the community in the state and expressed happiness over governments desire to uplift the region with developmental initiatives for permanent peace in the region .
He said that the students union will put pressure on the centre and state for proper implementation of the BTR accord which would pave way for more development and integrity.
He urged upon the centre and state to provide proper rehabilitation package to the NDFB members and withdrawal of criminal and non criminal cases against the NDFB members .
Today the union observed the 53rd foundation day at various units,anchalik and district offices of the students union in different districts of the state.
ABSU flags were hoisted in all ABSU offices and floral tributes were paid to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma,former president of ABSU on the occasion.
In the central ABSU office here at Bodofa House,general secretary Lawrence Islary hoisted the flag followed by floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, founder president and secretary Baneswar Basumatary,Kanakeswar Narzary and first Bodoland martyr Sujit Narzary.
The student union has resolved to carry out action plans which includes mission quality education and Bodofa mission for sustainable change to empower the every sections of the society as self sustaining society. Further the Union after its special convention has decided to ensure peace and harmony in the entire BTR region and Assam after signing of the new Peace Accord.
