Singapore, Oct 17: The Singapore Police Force has issued a statement clarifying that preliminary investigations into the death of Indian singer and composer Zubeen Garg do not indicate any foul play. The police addressed growing speculation and misinformation circulating online, assuring that the case is being handled under Singapore’s Coroners Act 2010.
According to the authorities, the investigation may take up to three more months to complete, after which the findings will be submitted to the State Coroner, who will decide whether to hold a coroner’s inquiry. The police emphasized their commitment to conducting a thorough and professional investigation, urging the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.
Zubeen Garg, 52, passed away on September 19, 2025, during a private yacht outing in Singapore, where he had traveled to perform at the Northeast India Festival. The Assam government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, with a report expected by late November or early December. Meanwhile, the Singapore Police shared the autopsy report and preliminary findings with the High Commission of India on October 1, 2025 .
