Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Jan 27: “The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) would jointly contest in the upcoming Assam assembly elections in Assam as they are the coalition partners in Bodoland Territorial Region areas”, said Assam Health and Education minister and NEDA convenor Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Dr Sarma while attending the closing ceremony of first BTR accord day anniversary celebration on Wednesday held at Ambagaon High School ground in Udalguri district,said that the historic BTR accord with the completion of one year has brought peace and tranquility among the all sections of communities.
He said that the BTR accord has also brought arms free environment as all four factions of NDFB were signatories besides ABSU and UBPO were also the signatories.
He said that government always wants peace and integration in the state and accordingly is working for healthy development of the citizens.
Dr Sarma said that majority of the clauses of the BTR accord are in the process of implementation and remaining clauses also will be taken up on priority .
He said that government is committed to extend all support to the BTR administration as UPPL-BJP-GSP combine coalition government is working for the welfare of the common masses .
He said that Pramod Boro led UPPL-BJP-GSP combine coalition government is working with proper strategies to ensure peace and tranquility in the region .
Dr Sarma made it clear that the BJP and UPPL will participate unitedly in the upcoming Assam assembly elections in BTR areas.
He said that people from the BTR areas are want parivartan and common people voted in favour of UPPL-BJP-GSP combine coalition government in BTR elections.
He was confident that UPPL- BJP coalition partners will get massive support in the assembly elections.
On the BJP-BPF alliance, Dr Sarma clarified that the BJP had an alliance with BPF for five years since 2016 and his party will no longer have any relation with BPF after completion of five years.
BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro said that the BTR Accord is an accord where all communities are getting equal rights and welfare.
He has assured that all clauses of the BTR accord would be implemented with in the days to come.
He appealed the Bodo community to stand united and extend cooperation to create a congenial environment.
“We must have a healthy society with peaceful environment. We are committed to work for welfare and development”,Boro added.
Meanwhile,the first BTR accord day anniversary celebration concluded on Wednesday with four day programme at Udalguri district.
On the occasion, noted Bodo singer Arun Narzary was conferred Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Cultural Award 2021 instituted by the Bodoland Territorial Region administration.
Noted educationist Surath Narzary was conferred the Pramod Chandra Brahma Literary Award-2021.
Both the awards have been instituted by BTR administration to persons who have been contributed towards upliftment in the field of culture and literary activities .
The awards were handed at the closing function of BTR accord accord day celebration today in Udalguri district. The awards comprise of a citation, memento and a cheque of Rs two lakhs.
The awards will be conferred every year on the occasion of BTR accord day celebrations .
