Guwahati( Assam), April 22 : While the spike in Covid cases in the state continues , recent samples from Dibrugarh Airport have tested positive for B.1.617 strain or the Indian double mutant (L452R and E484Q) strain of SARS-Cov-2.
Alarmed with the findings , Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted ,”We need to be very very careful.”
Meanwhile , a total of 1931 fresh Covid cases were detected today out which 680 cases were from Guwahati and its adjoining areas .
The overall positivity percentage was 2.63 .
Seeing the recent spike in the Covid cases in the state leaders of all political parties In the state met today to discuss the critical situation arising out of the recent surge in Covid cases in the state and the preventative steps to be taken to combat the pandemic.
The Govt today also ordered that coaching institutes shall run with 50% capacity and women teaching and non-teaching staff with children below 5 yrs shall be exempted from attending schools and coaching classes .
