Kokrajhar(Assam), April ,18: Police here ,today initiated stern measures against the people who were defying the lockdown and making movements and seized nearly 150 two-wheelers and four wheelers vehicles till Saturday in entire Kokrajhar district.
A strong vigil has been put in vulnerable areas in three subdivisions- Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar and Parbatjhora in Kokrajhar district during the ongoing nationwide lockdown period.
Inter-state border movements with West Bengal at Srirampur has been kept under close observation besides deployments of heavy security at district borders with Dhubri and Bongaigaon districts.
Security from both Kokrajhar(India) and Bhutan have been deployed to guard the Indo-Bhutan border areas in the north of Kokrajhar district.
All entry points in the district have been put under strong checks , besides carrying police patrolling on the roads.
During the ongoing lockdown,police detected and seized nearly 150 two- wheelers and several for violating the guidelines during the lockdown periods in the district.
“We are checking the open movement by vehicles on the roads and accordingly detected and seized several vehicles in the district”,said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.
The People’s Aid NGO has been distributing essential commodities at various places in Kokrajhar, Chirang as well as in nearby districts during the ongoing lockdown period.
