Kokrajhar (Assam ),March 2: Police here have seized 1 files and and other documents from BTC Secretariat following an FIR was lodged by UPPL activist Uttam Kumar Boro at Kokrajhar police station against some corrupt officials, political leaders, purchase board and contractors at various departments of BTC for cheating, forgery, corrupt practices and misappropriation of council funds.
Boro lodged the FIR on February 28 with Kokrajhar police demanding investigations into several anomalies in the utilization of BTC council fund since 2015 specially under Chief Discretionary fund which was meant to be utilized through WPT& BC dept in particular and many other departments of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
Boro in his FIR said that it is shocking that the public money has been siphoned off using various corrupt practices, without following due tender procedures.
He alleged that in nexus with politicians, ofticials and the contractors many of these cases were committed. Glaringy, fake bills were prepared without supplying materials to the actual beneficiaries. Supply orders issued on the basis of recommendation with exorbitant rates in compared to market price without proper tender process; fake bills, delivery challans and stock entry certificates were submitted without duly being supplied.
“This is a serious matter of cheating, forgery, misappropriation of pubic money committed by the public servants and others involved. Those persons involved have amassed disproportionate assets within a short time”, the FIR said.
He has intimated that from the strict observation it was found that Rijendra Nath Brahma, Under Secretary of WPT & BC Dept, BTC also CHD, WPT & BC had benefitted from the suppliers which included Manaranjan Brahma,M/S M Brahma enterprise,Sudhang Kumar Brahma,M/S JT Enterprise,Chilaram Narzary,Jai Prakash Gaggar, Prakash enterprise,Tapan Kumar Paddar,M/S MP enterprise and many others.
“I would like to state that many of officials, suppliers and other persons will be found involved in such crimes in other departments also if investigations are initiated in a detailed manner”.
Earlier , A PIL (075/2020) was filed demanding CBI inquiry into corruption charges in the BTC council in Guwahati High Court.
A case was registered with Kokrajhar police station,vide Kokrajhar police station case no.143/2021,u/s 406/420/408/409/468 IPC.
The FIR with the police was filed after UPPL-BJP-GSP coalition government has been formed in BTC.
Police seized several 16 files and documents on Tuesday after a thorough investigation and all the seized files have been kept at Kokrajhar PS under police custody.
It is said that there has been a multi hundred crores of corruption and anomalies during the BPF ruled BTC administration under the leadership of ex BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary.
