Kokrajhar (Assam), Feb 2: In a remarkable turnaround, Bodoland, a region in Assam , has transformed from a hotbed of violence to a beacon of peace and development. The historic BTR Peace Accord, signed in 2020, marked a significant milestone in this journey, uniting all factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), and the government.
Under the leadership of Promod Boro, the current Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), the region has witnessed notable improvements in security, infrastructure, and economic development. Boro’s efforts have been instrumental in promoting peace and stability, earning him recognition as a key player in the region’s transformation.
In contrast, Hagrama Mohilary, the first CEM of the BTC, played a crucial role in establishing the council and advocating for quality education in the region. During his tenure, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) swept the BTC polls, winning 31 out of 40 seats.
