Kokrajhar(Assam) ,May 2: The 61st annual conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) began on Monday with a 3 – day colourful programme .
President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will grace the programme as chief guest on the 3rd day of the session.
This is the first time in the history of Bodo Sahitya Sabha that the President of India will attend the session of Bodo Sahitya Sabha.
On the first day of the conference, chairman of the reception committee of the conference and Bodoland Territorial Region executve member Dharna Narayan Das inaugurated the late Ashina Basumatary memorial main gate, Assam state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita inaugurated the late Santiswar Brahma and late Sonraran Boro memorial guest house, BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro inaugurated the late Sunil Kumar Boro memorial main pandal, social activist Parul Bharali Boro inagurated the late Halodhar Ujir and late Maneswar Boro memorial exhibition complex.
Hundreds of delegates from different districts of Assam, apart from neighbouring states including Meghalaya, West Bengal and members from Bangladesh are participating in the event.
The conference venue has been decorated with ethnic designs .
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today arrived at the Bodo Sahitya Sabha conference venue at Kachubari Tamulpur today and met the members of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and reception committee.
Dr Sarma has also held a a review meeting with senior officials of the Tamulpur district administration and police and took stock about the preparations .
In the open session of the conference, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will be attending as chief guest on May 4 .
” Necessary preparation and arrangements are going on in full swing to ensure a smooth and successful conference.Today, I visited at the conference venue and took stock of tthe preparations”,Dr Sarma said.
BTR CEM Pramod Boro said that the Tamulpur conference is a historic event as President Ram Nath Kovind is attending as chief guest.
“We are very lucky that President Kovind is gracing the annual session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha”, Boro said.
Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma,Assam state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary,Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Taren Boro were prominent attendees on the occasion.
In the evening,the first delegate session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha was chaired by Taren Boro
