Kokrajhar (Assam) , April 27 : The term of the present Hagrama Mohilary led BPF in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) comes to end on midnight of April 27.
The election for 40 seats were declared and nominations filed and was due on April first week. However, due to CORONA- 19 pandemic the state election commission has postponed the election process for the time being.
Meanwhile, various organisation and parties including United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL),Gana Suraksha Party(GSP), Congress and All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) have welcomed the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) with effect from midnight of April 27 .
UPPL president and former ABSU president Pramod Boro has welcomed the notification issued from governor’s office for imposition of governor’s rule in BTC administration.
He said that people from various parties and common citizens had demanded governor’s rule in the region and accordingly governor rule has been imposed . He thanked the Governor and state government for imposing Governor’s Rule in BTC and hoped that good governance would prevail .
Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP and president of GSP Naba Kumar Sarania has hailed the decision. .He has welcomed the announcement of governor’s rule in BTC as the present BPF ruled BTC administration’s tenure ends today.He has urged upon the state government and election commission to conduct the council elections when the COVID-19 situation is controlled in the state.
ABSU president Dipen Boro while welcoming the announcement of governor’s rule in BTC,said that it is a well gestures of good governance in the region by imposition of governor’s thereby paving way for healthy and more development in the council area.He also extended his sincere thanks to the Governor of Assam and state government for imposing governor’s rule in BTAD administration which is effective from midnight .
He has also urged the government to conduct the council elections when the existing COVID-19 situation is normalized in the state.He also urged the government to implement the clauses of the recently signed Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) accord properly in days to come and establish a healthy democracy in the region by conducting fresh council elections.
