Guwahati ( Assam) , Sept 21 : 2640 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Monday taking the total number of cases to 159320.
The active cases now stand at 29609 after a total of 129130 patients have been discharged after recovery .
Among the new cases on Monday , 574 cases were reported from Kamrup Metro , 240 from Jorhat, 206 from Lakhimpur and 198 from Golaghat .
A total of 16 critically -ill Covid patients succumbed to their infections at various hospitals across the state on Monday taking the official death toll to 578 .
A Total of 1795 patients were discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care Centers today after recovery .
Health Minister , Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted , “Alert ~ 2640 #COVID cases detected today out of 35603 tests.
