Guwahati ( Assam), May 15 : The anti talk faction of The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) in a press -statement has declared a unilateral ceasefire for three months with immediate effect.
The ULFA-I Commander-in-Chief in a press -note sent to media said , “With utmost sincerity, we would like to inform the indigenous people of Assam that in view of the Coronavirus-induced situation, the ULFA (I) has decided to suspend its all military operations for the next three months with effect from today.”
ULFA ( I) chief , Paresh Barua also alleged that a section of officials of the Indian security forces and Assam police have orchestrated a conspiracy to malign the image of ULFA (I).
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Dr . Sarma who is on a day-long visit to Tinsukia to assess the COVID situation in the district said that he is also aware of the development thru media reports it but is awaiting for official confirmation from the Police . He added , that in case of any positive dialogue it has to be with the combined efforts of both the ULFA (!) and the government .
