Guwahati (Assam), June 16 : Two underage siblings, died after landslides caused by heavy rain in Goalpara, were buried alive today. Their bodies have been found under the rubble.
A portion of land collapsed due to the heavy rains, in which the two children died on the spot,
Their bodies have been recovered by the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team in Goalpara.
The deceased have been identified as Hussain Ali and Asma Khatun and both were siblings.
The body of the deceased duo taken for post-mortem to the Goalpara Civil Hospital.
So far, six people have died in Assam in the past three days as a result of landslides. This year, 44 people have died in the state as a result of flooding and landslides.
Dima Hasao district is also facing flooding and landslides. While administration, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the state public works are working to repair the damaged roads in the district, rainwater has flooded many parts and roads.
Meanwhile, more than 7,000 people have been affected in Tamulpur district after several villages were flooded.
The water level of the Boroliya, Pagaladiya and Motoanga rivers has risen due to heavy rains .
