Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 22: The 5th Shillong Literary Festival came to a close on Saturday, Nov 22, at the picturesque Ward’s Lake, marking the end of three enriching days of literary conversations, performances, and creative exchange. The festival showcased Shillong’s unique ability to inspire and highlighted the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Over the course of three days, the festival featured a diverse range of themes, including literature, cinema, history, oral traditions, geopolitics, poetry, folklore, and music. A distinguished constellation of voices from India and around the world, including Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka, celebrated authors, and cinema stalwarts, shared their insights and experiences.
The sessions were marked by engaging discussions, insightful conversations, and captivating performances. The festival concluded with a celebration of Meghalaya’s musical heritage, featuring the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project, against the serene backdrop of Ward’s Lake.
