Shillong(Meghalaya),June 24 : Tripartite peace talks between the Centre, Meghalaya government and the outlawed HNLC began at Umiam near here on Saturday amidst demands by the organisation for amnesty for its cadres.
Officials said A K Mishra is the Centre’s interlocutor, while Ronnie Wahlang and Peter Dkhar are participating the talks on behalf of the state. HNLC is being represented by Sadon Blah.
Saidon Blah said , HNLC has demanded the withdrawal of all charges against its cadres to pave the way for successful talks.
The outfit is likely to collect names of cadres who have criminal cases and names of those who are still lodged in jail.
The HNLC leadership also wanted the government to withdraw the cases under NIA against three leaders of HNLC. The special judge (NIA), Shillong had issued notices to HNLC leaders Bobby Marwein, Marius Rynjah and Sainkupar Nongtraw in connection with the IED blast in 2020 in East Jaintia Hills.
