Shillong(Meghalaya), Feb 6 : Reigning champions Mawlai SC squandered a golden opportunity to tighten their grip on the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 title, settling for a 1-1 draw with Langsning FC at the SSA Stadium, Polo, today.
Damanbhalang Chyne’s 9th-minute strike put Mawlai ahead, but Dauruhipaia Pale equalized for Langsning in the 27th minute. In the second fixture, Rangdajied United secured a 2-0 victory over Sawmer, thanks to Owanijuh Pajuh’s brace in the 67th and 82nd minutes.
The draw leaves Mawlai just 2 points ahead of Shillong Lajong FC, who also drew 1-1 against Nongthymmai SC yesterday. Mawlai’s performance was marred by inaccurate passing, poor finishing, and frantic shot selection, a far cry from their recent Meghalaya State League triumph.
Langsning FC, on the other hand, continues to show improvement, and with this draw, they have now accumulated 17 points, level with Lajong FC but trailing behind due to an inferior goal difference.
