Shillong(Meghalaya) , Apr 12: In a nail-biting finish, Meghalaya’s women’s cricket team emerged victorious in the 2nd NECDC Senior Women Tournament 2025, defeating Sikkim by two wickets with just three balls to spare. The thrilling match saw Meghalaya chase down Sikkim’s total of 114/4, reaching 115/8 in 19.3 overs.
Riticia Nongbet hit the winning runs, sealing the win for Meghalaya, which remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Sikkim put up a strong fight, having won their group matches against Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, and defeating Nagaland in the semifinals.
The tournament, hosted by the Sikkim Cricket Association, aimed to promote cricket in the region under the aegis of the North East Cricket Development Council. Last year’s inaugural edition saw Sikkim and Nagaland share the title due to weather conditions. Meghalaya’s victory marks a significant milestone for the team’s stellar performance this season.
