Imphal (Manipur), April 7: A bomb attack by suspected Kuki militants in Manipur’s Bishnupur district has killed two toddlers and injured their mother. The incident occurred at 1 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, when a bomb fell on a civilian house in Moirang Tronglaobi, killing a 5-year-old boy and a 6-month-old girl.
The mother, Oinam Binita, a nurse, had returned home for the Chakumba ceremony for her baby. The father, Oinam Mangalngamba, a BSF Head Constable, is rushing back to Manipur.
The Manipur government has suspended internet services in five districts for three days to prevent the spread of hate speech and curfew has been imposed. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh has chaired a meeting to review the law-and-order situation.
In a related development, the Imphal West District Magistrate has imposed restrictions, prohibiting movement outside residences from 2:30 pm on April 7, 2026, citing apprehensions of breach of peace. Exceptions include government agencies, essential services, and emergencies with prior permission.
The incident has been condemned as an act of terrorism, with locals demanding justice.
