Tura (Meghalaya), Feb 12: The Department of Tourism, Meghalaya, has handed over land to InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to develop a five-star Holiday Inn Resort in Tura, marking a significant milestone in the state’s hospitality expansion.
This ₹130 crore project will be the first five-star hotel in Tura and Garo Hills, creating employment opportunities and enhancing tourism infrastructure.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized that this project is part of a larger economic vision, aiming to transform Meghalaya into a $150 billion economy by 2047.
The state already has two operational high-end hotels, Courtyard by Marriott and Vivanta by Taj, and three more premium projects are in the pipeline.
