Shillong ( Meghalaya), Apr 28 : After a gap of 2 years, the state reported its first causality from Covid-19 on Thursday, Apr 27, 2023 .
According to information available, a 41 – year- old and resident of Rajabala in West Garo Hills succumbed to his infections at Tura Holy Cross Hospital .
It is not yet known if the patient had received the Anti – Covid vaccine.
The patient was admitted to the hospital after severe complaints of breathlessness and high fever April 22 .
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference here today , Health Minister Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh said that as of now 5 cases have been reported in East Khasi Hills , 10 in West Garo Hills and 2 in West Jaintia Hills .
Dr Lyngdoh added that the situation is still under control and appealed to the people to take precautions and follow the Covid appropriate behavior to reduce the chances of contracting Covid -19 infection.
