Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 6 : The state Cabinet on Friday approved the $98 Million EAP under BRICS New Development Bank called the Meghalaya Eco-Tourism Infrastructure Development Project (MEIDP).
This project proposes to develop the infrastructure for experiential eco tourism like landscaping and building of tourism amenities, revamping tourism infrastructure, heritage walks, etc.
The Cabinet also approved the Office Memorandum for the guidelines of issuance of income and assets certificate for the economically weaker section in the state. This is meant for reservation of economically weaker sections in civil posts and services in Central Govt offices and posts & admission in Central Govt. Institutions.
This will be applicable to persons not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs.
Though it does not apply to majority of the population in the state but families whose incomes are less than 8 Lakhs will get this certificate but if these families also in spite of having 8 Lakhs and less income, have five acres of agricultural land and above, have residential flat of 1000 square feet, have residential plot of 100 sq. yards, have residential plot of 200 sq. yards in non municipal areas will not be entitled to the certification
