Shillong (Meghalaya) Nov 14: The Shillong Sports Association has announced the groupings and fixtures for the inaugural SSA Champions Cup 2025, which is set to begin on November 24. The tournament will feature the winners of the association’s five men’s football divisions, competing for the coveted title and a cash prize of Rs 8 lakh.
The 10 eligible teams have been divided into two groups of five, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semifinals. Group A consists of Langsning, Mylliem Lum, Umlyngka, Mawkasiang, and the First Division runners-up. Group B comprises Shillong Lajong, Laitkyrhong, Mawkriah West, Mawlynrei, and the winners of the First Division.
The tournament will kick off with Mawkasiang facing Mylliem Lum at 1 pm on November 24, followed by Langsning against Umlyngka at 4:30 pm. The semifinals will be held on December 9 and 10, and the final will take place on December 13.
Notably, teams from the Second, Third, and Fourth Divisions are allowed to sign up to five players on loan for this tournament, aiming to level the playing field and provide opportunities for emerging talent. The SSA Champions Cup 2025 promises to be an exciting competition, showcasing the state’s best football talent and providing a thrilling experience for fans.
