Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 30: In a dramatic turn of events, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has swooped in to save Sonam Raghuvanshi, the embattled accused in the Sohra murder case, from a public shaming spectacle. The court has issued a stern directive to authorities in Indore, banning the burning of Sonam’s effigy during the Dussehra celebrations.
The drama unfolded when ‘Paurush’, an Indore-based organization, planned to torch Sonam’s image alongside other notorious figures, sparking outrage from the accused’s family. Sonam’s mother, Sangeeta Raghuvanshi, swiftly approached the court, demanding protection for her daughter’s rights.
The court’s verdict has sent shockwaves through the community, with Justice Pranay Verma delivering a scathing rebuke to the planned effigy burning. “In a democracy governed by the rule of law, such vindictive actions are unconstitutional,” the judge declared, emphasizing the need to uphold Sonam’s fundamental rights.
As the nation watches with bated breath, the court’s intervention has ensured that Sonam’s rights are safeguarded, setting a powerful precedent for justice and dignity. The Sohra murder case continues to grip headlines, but for now, the court’s ruling has brought a measure of relief to Sonam and her family.
