Imphal (Manipur), April 4: In a major operation, security forces have destroyed 13 bunkers allegedly erected by Kuki armed groups in Twichin and Saibol villages, Imphal East District. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of illegal bunkers and hidden stockpiles of weapons.
A five-hour-long operation was conducted by the 4 Mahar Regiment in coordination with Manipur Police, resulting in the recovery of a massive cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike materials.
According to police reports, the seized items include one 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, three Heavy Bipod mounted Pompi Guns of 60 mm Caliber, three Heavy Bipod mounted Pompi Guns of 55 mm Caliber, one Heavy Bipod mounted Pompi Gun of 45 mm Caliber, and three Pompi Guns, among other explosives and warlike materials.
The operation is a significant blow to the Kuki militant groups operating in the region. The security forces’ efforts to disrupt and dismantle militant infrastructure will help maintain peace and stability in the area.
